Park Ridge
Oshawa, Ontario

Begun in 1998, the development of the 600-acre (243 hectares) Park Ridge community brought neighbourhood design to a new level in Oshawa, a city 25 miles (40 kilometres) to the east of Toronto. Consisting almost exclusively of single family homes constructed by Tribute Communities, the Neighbourhoods of Park Ridge will eventually be home to several thousand families.

In addition to its multiple parks and school sites, the community is built around a number of large ravines that contain tributaries of Harmony Creek, a major watershed in the area.

The City of Oshawa built and operates The Legends Centre, a $40 million community recreation centre within the neighbourhood. The Legends Centre houses a large swimming pool, several ice rinks, a library and community meeting rooms. In addition, the Durham School Board purchased a 13-acre (5.3 hectares) parcel of land from Metrontario in order to build a new secondary school in the community. Construction of the school commenced in the fall of 2007.
